Ever since I can remember I have loved mustard. It is my favorite condiment. But it was only just a few days ago that I met the mustard green. To my friend Laura I owe a vast debt of gratitude for facilitating the introduction at a casual dinner party. They were in a colander in the sink, draining, and I snatched one up to try it. The first taste was bitter but as I continued to chomp on the leaf, the undeniable flavor of horseradish began to fill my mouth.
What bliss! I adore horseradish and here is a vegetable- a green, leafy, nutritious, non-fat bit of roughage- that brings with it a burst of my favorite heat!
