Love above justice

The following comes from Janet’s Repentance, a short story by George Eliot.

We reap what we sow, but Nature has love over and above that justice, and gives us shadow and blossom and fruit that spring from no planting of ours.

This sentiment reminds me to be grateful not only for the abundance of life that the Earth continues to put forth despite our eco-treachery, but for the ineffable grace of God, Who blesses us contrary to our just desserts.
